TSA Carry On & Airline restrictions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Clear Bag System?
The Clear Bag System™ combines a sturdy, clear vinyl toiletry bag with fashionable, spill-proof jars and pumps so you can easily pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airline restrictions for liquids and gels. According to ruling by the TSA, carry on baggage must hold liquids, gels and aerosols in containers weighing 3 oz. or less. The items must also be enclosed in a clear, quart-sized zip-top bag. The Clear Bag System™ meets all TSA Guidelines, with many added benefits, including durability, cleanliness and style.

How do I fill the Airless Pumps?
Simply pour your favorite liquids, lotions and gels directly into the canister. The content must reach the very top of the canister in order to activate the pump once the top is screwed on. The actuator is located in the screw-on top. It must be able to touch the liquid or gel to make the pump work.  So, fill the pump all the way to the very tiptop, then screw on the lid.  Pump a few times to make sure the liquid or gel comes out okay.
To refill the canister, use the clear wand provided with your Clear Bag System™ to depress the plunger. You can wash with soap and water if you’d like to use a different product this time. Then, follow the instructions above to refill your airless pump.

What can I bring in my carry on bag to comply with airline restrictions?
You can bring shampoo, lotion, hair gel, sunscreen, contact solution, roll-on deodorant, toothpaste, make-up or any other cosmetic as long as it fits into a container that is 3 oz or smaller – and in a clear, quart-sized zip-top bag.

What about my medicine?
Prescription medication does not have to be in a zip-top bag, but must be available for inspection as a TSA carry on.

Can I bring deodorant?
Yes. Gels or aerosols less than 3 oz can be easily packed in the Clear Bag System™ vinyl bag next to the system’s leak-proof pumps and jars.  There are no airline restrictions for solid stick deodorant.  Solids can be packed anywhere in your luggage.

Can I bring lipstick?
Lip-gloss and any gel based lip ointment must be packed in the Clear Bag System™ clear, vinyl bag. Many customers transfer ointments to one of our matching jars for easy travel. Solid lipstick can be packed anywhere in your luggage.

Is hair gel allowed?
Hair gel is allowed if it is in a container that is 3 ounces or less and placed in a clear, zip-top bag.  Hair gel is easily packaged in any of the Clear Bag System™ spill-proof travel pumps or jars.

Can I take the Clear Bag System™ to Europe and Canada?
Yes, Clear Bag System™ meets all TSA carry on regulations. You will be safe using it for trips to Europe, to Canada, and for your return trip back to the U.S.

How do I fill the pumps?
Pumps must be filled COMPLETELY to the top of each container to activate airless compression. All air must be eliminated before the compression begins to work.

  1. Pull off the lid
  2. Unscrew the top of the canister
  3. Fill the canister completely to the top, eliminating all air
  4. Screw the top back on the canister
  5. Test the pump

If the liquid/gel does not dispense, unscrew the top again and completely fill the canister, making sure liquid/gel touches the brim of the canister opening.

How do I refill the pumps?
The 6" wand included with your bag may be used to push the plunger down in the pump to refill product.
